A Completed Movie Waiting For A Release Date
Actor Imran Khan's long-awaited return as a Bollywood leading man now faces an unexpected off-screen complication. Filming on his untitled comeback project wrapped more than a year ago, and the movie sits in post-production. While streaming giant Netflix reportedly backs the film, the platform has not yet announced an official premiere date. Now, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office has ordered the American-born actor to leave India by October 28. Immigration officials issued the notice after police detained Khan during an October 10 political demonstration at Mumbai's August Kranti Maidan. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had filed a formal complaint alleging Khan violated the conditions of his Overseas Citizen of India card. Although the deportation notice does not halt post-production on the completed film, it complicates upcoming promotional plans.
Reuniting With Director Danish Aslam
A major streaming launch typically requires the lead actor to attend press conferences, media interviews, and promotional events in Mumbai. If Khan must leave India before the premiere, producers will have to coordinate virtual appearances or alter their marketing strategy. The film reunites Khan with director Danish Aslam, who previously helmed the actor's 2010 romantic drama *Break Ke Baad*. Actresses Bhumi Pednekar and Gurfateh Pirzada reportedly co-star in the contemporary relationship drama. Khan previously explained that the story reflects how he and Aslam have matured over the past fifteen years. After starring in hits like *Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na* and *Delhi Belly*, Khan stepped away from acting after 2015's *Katti Batti*. He recently warmed up for his full return with a brief cameo in Vir Das's *Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos*.
Deep Personal And Family Ties In Maharashtra
Beyond his film career, the October 28 exit order affects Khan's deeply rooted family life in Maharashtra. He lives in Mumbai with his partner Lekha Washington and co-parents his young daughter Imara under a local court arrangement. Khan also restored his family's historic Pali Hill bungalow and built a custom farmhouse in Karjat. Fans and industry insiders are watching closely to see how the courts and streaming executives respond before the deadline.
