Woman mauled to death by giant pet crocodile

The woman's body was discovered by her colleagues.

An Indonesian lady has been battered to death by a crocodile in Sulawesi after she fell into its walled in area, authorities said.

Deasy Tuwo, 44, had reportedly been feeding the 700-kg reptile when the incident occurred at the pearl farm where she worked.

The crocodile is thought to have gnawed off her arm and the greater part of her guts in the January 10 incident, the BBC investigated Thursday.

The lady's body was found by her associates.

As indicated by the report, the crocodile was kept unlawfully at the homestead. It was moved to a protection site after the assault.

Hendriks Rundengan from the North Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency told the BBC that authorities had endeavored to visit the office a few times in the past to evacuate the crocodile yet had not been permitted in.

"We've come here a couple of times yet the wall are constantly bolted," he said on Wednesday.

The police were attempting to find a Japanese national who possesses both the ranch and the crocodile, the report said.
