Bahrain and Belgium Discuss Regional Security and Cooperation

Hubert Roosen met with Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad in Brussels today. Roosen serves as Chief of Staff to the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister. Behzad represents the Kingdom of Bahrain in Belgium, the European Union, and NATO.

Addressing Regional Conflicts

The two officials discussed current regional developments at length. They focused on recent Iranian attacks against Bahrain and other Gulf states.

Ambassador Behzad stressed a crucial point during the meeting. He stated the GCC states play no part in the current conflict. He urged international leaders to firmly rebut any misleading narratives regarding this issue.

Economic Threats and Global Navigation

The Bahraini ambassador also emphasized a major economic threat. Iran recently closed the vital Strait of Hormuz. This dangerous blockade threatens the global economy, Europe, and the wider world.

Roosen expressed strong Belgian solidarity with Bahrain and the GCC states. He conveyed his Foreign Minister's repeated condemnation of the Iranian attacks. He noted these strikes aggressively target civilian infrastructure and violate GCC sovereignty.

The Belgian official also reaffirmed his country's strict commitment to maritime security. The European nation actively supports safe commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Both leaders eventually shifted their focus to future opportunities. They reviewed new avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

They share a strong commitment to advancing Bahraini and Belgian relations. They plan to build this cooperative future within a structured institutional framework.
