US President Donald Trump will receive Bahraini Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa this week to discuss maritime security and countering the threat from Iran, the White House informed last week.
"The visit will further strengthen the strategic partnership and friendship between the United States and Bahrain and expand economic and security co-operation," it said.
The White House announced that the meeting will take place on 18th September.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss "efforts to promote peace in the region, and counter-terrorism", the White House said.
Bahrain's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, announced during a visit to the US in July that his country would host a large meeting on maritime security this autumn.
The Gulf has been dealing with threats and attacks involving Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps since May.
Donald Trump was also due to receive the Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Sabah, this week but the meeting was cancelled as his guest has medical examinations in a US hospital.
