9. Sweating or excessive perspiration is one of the first signs of low blood sugar. This happens because low blood sugar levels affect the functioning of a part of the central nervous system which governs the skin. You may sweat despite how hot or cold your external temperature may be.
Professor Kaul suggests the following measures to bring your blood sugar levels back to normal or feel better till you consult a doctor -
1. Have sugar in the form of candies or raisins or any other food where the sugar is absorbed rapidly by the body.
2. Drink a solution of sugar and water or some sweet juice.
3. Grab a quick snack that is rich in carbohydrates.
4. Eating a small snack before you sleep helps in reducing the frequency and severity of sleep disturbances.
People who have diabetes should be very careful about the timely intake of medicines and also the frequency of their meals. Skipping meals, not eating enough after insulin or waiting for too long to eat after you take your medicines can lead to a sudden drop in blood sugar levels. Be safe than sorry.
