Meghan Markle can never eat her favorite Filipino food in front of Queen Elizabeth II, here’s why

Becoming part of the British Royal Family after marrying Prince Harry means that Meghan Markle needs to live with regal convention – from the clothes she’ll wear and how she shall behave, up to the food that she will eat.

After receiving the title Duchess of Sussex,  it appears as though Markle would need to surrender eating one of her most loved dishes within the sight of Queen Elizabeth II.

As per Harper's Bazaar UK, Markle won't be permitted to take a bite of her most loved Filipino dish, adobo, when the Queen is around as royals are not permitted to eat garlic in her presence.

Buckingham Palace chef Darren McGrady told Express that the Queen is not a fan of garlic and its smell. She has even banned members of the royal family from eating it at state banquets.

Each Filipino who has eaten this famous Filipino dish realizes that it needs cloves of garlic to accomplish its particular taste so it's truly evident that adobo won't get served at any Royal Family supper.

Before wedding Prince Harry, Markle has already said an article on Today which was distributed in 2012 that she appreciates Filipino food, similar to adobo, on Sundays.

“I enjoy making slow-cooked food on Sundays, like Filipino-style chicken adobo. It’s so easy—combine garlic, soy (or Bragg Liquid Aminos), vinegar, maybe some lemon, and let the chicken swim in that sauce until it falls off the bone in a Crock-Pot. I have a beautiful Le Creuset that could also do the trick, but the Sunday supper ‘Americana’ of it all calls for a Crock-Pot. Set it and forget it and serve with brown rice and salad.”

What’s more amazing is that Markle even has her own adobo recipe.
