Left arm pacer Ashish Nehra decided to retire from international cricket first Twenty20 match against New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla on November 1.
The 38-year-old veteran is a part of the T20 team for the ongoing Australia series was not featured in 11 playing in the two Twenty20 International matches. According to a senior BCCI official, told head coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli about his decision recently.
Ashish Nehra took the decision to retire from the Indian team as there has been no provisional slotting of World T20 matches in 2018. He also added that he wanted to give the younger players a chance and informed the management of this decision. Reportedly, Nehra will not be playing in the Indian Premier League's next season.
Nehra has played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 26 T20 Internationals for the country since his debut back in 1999 under Mohammed Azharuddin. His versatility extends outside the pitch as many IPL franchises want Nehra as their bowling coach-cum-mentor.
