Jemae Ruiz Peralta went on facebook to share her story about “Walwal no more”. As the title suggest, Jemae suffered from the aftermath of being an alcoholic. She revealed that her week won’t be completed without a bottle of alcohol circulating inside her body and as early as 10am wayback her college days, she and her friends would always be the first customers of bars and stores selling alcoholic beverages. Because of this, she becames pain in the neck of her mom.

Fast forward March of 2017, Jemae started peeing blood. It did not bother her at first thinking she might just probably have UTI which is very treatable by taking meds. Her nightmare came to reality when Jemae was rushed to the hospital after experiencing pain on her lower abdomen and through her first diagnosis, her doctor advised her to be confined since her doctor suspected that she has an ovarian cyst.

Jemae’s lab and ultrasound results confirmed that she has 9-cm ovarian cyst that needs to be extracted from her body as soon as possible. Two days after the result was out, Jemae was scheduled for operation and thankfully, it turned out successful.

Now, Jemae has recovered and changed her lifestyle because as she mentioned “Alak is life but life is lifer” which pertains that life is more important than drinking.

With this, we hope that Jemae’s story brought awareness to people who depend much to alcohol in all seasons of their life. Well, it’s okay to drink but it should not be done every single day but occasionally.
