The recruitment file of Indian domestic workers is expected to result in an agreement which will be signed between Kuwait and India, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The agreement will include the terms and conditions amid proposals to sign similar agreement with the government of Ethiopia, at a time when the file of Philippine domestic hires remains uncertain following the postponement of the scheduled visit of the Philippine Labor Secretary Sylvester Bello III, which does not seem to happen in the near future. According to reliable sources Kuwait and India are finalizing the agreement, which includes the recruitment of six accredited agencies in India that will have a mandate to screen prospective domestic workers.

The agreement will also include the cancellation of the $2,500 which the government of India had demanded as security against non-payment of salaries by sponsors or money towards repatriation in case of a dispute.

The sources added the agreement includes the establishment of a mechanism to deposit the salaries of domestic workers into banks, in addition to some other conditions that will be a suitable formula to maintain relations between sponsors and workers.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Minister Plenipotentiary Sami Al-Hamad also discussed with the Ethiopian Ambassador to the country Abdul Aziz Adam the proposal contained in the agreement. At the same time, the sources confirmed there are other countries requesting the signing of an agreement to organize the recruitment process of domestic workers.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, Major- General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, has stressed on the importance of facilitating the applications of domestic workers by speeding up the issuance of visas, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
