13 Days to GO! Amnesty offer going to end. If not you will face 3 Years JAIL and FINES up to QR50,000

A reminder on the three-month amnesty scheme for illegal residents, that is valid until December 1, was issued by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

It may be noted that foreigners residing in Qatar, violating the provisions of Law No 4 of 2009 Regulating the Entry, Exit, Residence and Sponsorship of Expatriates, could exit the country without any legal consequences, under the provisions of the scheme.

The MoI urged illegal residents to contact the Search and Follow up Department to complete the exit procedures during the grace period, that started from September 1.

An extensive inspection campaign has been planned to be launched after the expiry of the 3-month amnesty programme. The campaign will be launched by the Search and Follow Up Department of the Ministry of Interior to crackdown on the illegal residents who did not take advantage of the amnesty programmes, such violators would be duly prosecuted under the relevant sections of the law, a senior official has said.

“A lot of people have already availed the amnesty offer and as the deadline draws closer the numbers will only increase as the illegals who avail this offer will not face any legal consequences, furthermore any fines against them are also waived off”, says the Director of Search and Follow Up Department Brig Abdullah JaberLebdah. The amnesty scheme is set to expiry on the 1st of December.

The response from the targeted population has been good and many have come forward to avail this scheme, he added.

Speaking to The Peninsula, Brig Lebdah said that there is no plan to extend the amnesty scheme as the Department is of the opinion that 3-months is a long enough period and we are committed to follow the period as specified by the Ministry.
