American singer release music video shot entirely in Qatar

American singer/songwriter Jessica Gibson, who moved to Qatar in 2015, has released a video song titled ‘Where I Belong’ in collaboration with the Doha Film Institute, the video of the song was entirely shot in Zekreet.

The song deals with how we can change the things that obstruct our paths in our lives into bridges that lead to something better.

“The song is about being lost and confused about what direction to take in life. Although I don’t feel lost or confused about my life here in Qatar at all, I do think the imagery created by Zekreet’s exotic landscape complemented the song very well. The vastness of the desert represents feeling lost and alone, while the steel structures represent a mental block or an inability to see a way beyond one’s difficulties”, Jessica told ILQ, in an interview.

Jessica has been involved with music since age 12 and her father is a musician. I have always had a strong passion for music, it is my comfort zone as well as escape from the familiar, says Jessica.

Speaking about her experiences while working in Qatar, Jessica said, “Although, Qatar doesn’t have what musicians expect cities to have, the conventional jamming sessions etc., this unconventionality forces musicians to adjust accordingly and it brings the best out of them.”
