Bride Lost 110lbs After Being Embarrassed By Engagement Photos.

Once summer is over and the cold creeps in, we, too, creep back into our old habits of comfort food, cat naps, and lazy weekends. But 24-year-old Haley Smith of Amarillo, Texas, fought these temptations in order to prepare for her fall wedding to her high school sweetheart, Matt Smith. This determined young woman spent the past 15 months shedding 110 pounds just in time for her special day.

The two were engaged in July 2015 while Smith was a postgraduate student in psychology. Although it is typical for folks to share the news with friends on social media, she refused because she 'didn't even recognize herself' in the photos. She was shocked to see that she had 'let [herself] go so much.'

For Smith, her motivation to lose weight was beyond societal pressures. She told Us Weekly that the weight held her back from a number of things, including playing sports with friends and going on family vacations. Not only did she get back into shape for her wedding, she's motivating thousands of women everywhere to welcome healthy changes into their own lives through Instagram, where she has over 38k followers.

High School Sweethearts

Here's Matt and Haley Smith at their senior prom. To date, the two have been together for over 8 years.

Engaged

This photo was taken shortly after Matt proposed to Haley in July 2015. Even though she looks as beautiful as ever, she felt 'ashamed' after seeing herself.

'I couldn’t believe Matt would want to be with someone like me,' she revealed.

Motivation Mondays and Rewards

Determined to feel better in her own body, she made slow and steady adjustments to her lifestyle. She made sure not to eat after 8 PM and limited takeout to twice a week. Later on, she went jogging three times a week and started strength training. Check out this chart she created to reward herself for every 10 pounds lost.

Healthy Eats

We all know that diet is key to maintaining and losing weight. Haley often posts photos of her healthy eats on Instagram. She seems to love Blue Apron. Some other top-rated meal kit services you can check out are Chef'd, Purple Carrot, and Plated.

Progress Photos

Instead of calling these before and after photos, we like to call these progress photos. Haley worked hard for 15 months and was able to drop 110 pounds. Take a look at her ring size, now 2.5 sizes down.

'Sometimes I can't believe the picture on the left was actually me,' she wrote on her account.

'And sometimes I can't believe that the picture on the right is me. It's a weird feeling, but I'm proud of how far I've come. I'm not at goal weight or goal size, but I'm going to keep pushing! Don't quit just because you are starting to feel comfortable with your body! Keep pushing, there's always room for improvement and always new goals to crush!'

The Happy Couple

Matt worked alongside Haley and lost some weight as well (30 pounds). The two would work out and run together.

Matt and Haley's Special Day

Haley announced that she is still waiting for photos from the photographer but the few she posted are absolutely gorgeous.

Congratulations, Haley! Thank you for sharing your story.

The bride told People Magazine that she thought she was going to get married in a long-sleeve ball gown but ended up going for a strapless mermaid gown by Maggie Sottero. We love the newfound confidence in this glowing bride!
