We think we know everything about our favorite celebrities. Their careers, who they’re dating, how much they’re getting paid. Between the trashy gossip magazines and the hours of reality TV, we consider ourselves experts – practically BBFs really – with most of Hollywood.

But, if you recall, there was a time when we didn’t know our dearest movie stars and darling pop singers, when they were just strangers in the night who we wouldn’t have looked twice at if they tried to talk to us on the subway. That’s right, as hard as it is to accept, they had lives before the paparazzi were stalking them 24/7 and we were Googling them at every opportunity.

1. Kim Kardashian

Back in 2000, Kim was a long way off from starring in Keeping Up With The Kardashians and being propelled to stardom along with her sisters. Which meant that everyone barely noticed when the stylist of Paris Hilton eloped with the music producer who has worked with artists such as Mary J. Blige and Chris Brown. Kim and Damon eloped to Las Vegas when she was just 19-years-old, but split only three years later after Kim claimed to have suffered domestic abuse.
