Don’t mind taking on Anurag Kashyap, scared of Aamir: Pahlaj Nihalani shifts release of Julie 2

Former Central Board of Film Certification head Pahlaj Nihalani has shifted the release date of his upcoming film, Julie 2 and claimed he is not afraid of “taking on Anurag Kashyap” but is certainly “scared of Aamir Khan”. The erotic film was initially slated for an October 6 release and it has been now pushed to November 10.

Talking about the shift of the release, Nihalani told DNA, “We lost our original date of October 6 because of a court case. After that, we couldn’t come in the pre-Diwali week when the entire nation’s eyes are glued to Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.” Aamir Khan-starrer Secret Superstar is set to hit theatres on October 19, Diwali.

The film now release on November 10, the day when Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz and Rajkummar Rao’s Shaadi Mein Jaroor Aana also hit theatres. When asked about the clash, the former CBFC chief told the daily, “We are not scared of Kashyap’s cinema. He has always tried to generate interest in his films by raking up censor issues. Now that I’m no more the CBFC chairperson, let’s see how he generates interest in his films. Hamare paas Julie hai.”

Julie 2 is a sequel to the controversial 2004 film starring Neha Dhupia. Nihalani is ‘presenting’ the upcoming bold, beautiful and blessed’ sequel. The film is about Bollywood - how a newcomer needs to survive the big bad industry in order to become a star.

Directed by Deepak Shivdasani, the film stars Raai Laxmi, Rati Agnihotri, Sahil Salathia, Aditya Srivastava, Ravi Kishen and Pankaj Tripathi.
