Mum shocked giving birth to boy after four scans confirm 'baby girl'

Some people choose to find out the sex of their baby, others keep it a surprise.

But when you’re told ‘It’s a girl/boy’, you’re pretty confident that you can start preparing for your bundle of joy… right?

Wrong. Well, at least it was for one mum – and she had spent hundreds on decorating her little girl’s nursery, as well as kitting out her wardrobe.

Katie Ingram was certain that she was expecting a little girl, who she was going to name Poppy, when she fell pregnant.

And four scans in both Spain and the UK confirmed her suspicions.

However, Katie was in for a shock when her midwife delivered ‘Poppy’ on December 16 – and announced ‘It’s a boy!’

Poppy quickly became Teddy.

Katie’s mum, Sarah, said that although Katie was shocked that Teddy was a ‘chico’ and not a ‘chica’, she is ‘head over heels in love’.

Speaking to the Coventry TelegraKatie , she said: ‘On Katie’s arrival back to the UK the pink shopping began, where she and her dad filled three trollies at ASDA with pink, pink and more pink.

‘Three scans later confirmed the baby was a ‘chica’ and the clothes were all washed and hung up ready for her arrival.

‘Poppy is now Teddy, and we all fell head over heels in love. We’re all delighted with little Teddy as I’m sure you can imagine.’

Katie has decided to donate the hundreds of pounds worth of pink clothing to a mother and baby refuge.
