Raksha Bandhan- Things To Do

Raksha Bandhan is a special festival that celebrates the relationship between a brother and his sister. Year after year the festival strengthens this bond between the siblings.

Here are 3 interesting ways of making this day more special than it already is.

 1.  Plan a trip in advance

You may already have a bucket list of places you want to travel to together. This might be that “auspicious occasion” you were waiting for to make that trip really happen. Plan the trip beforehand and make “tying the rakhi” more special by doing it somewhere you least expected. In the snow covered Himalayas maybe.

2. Binge on movies or a TV series

Bring out the old DVDs that were a hit with the siblings and make it a day of back to back movies. What a way to go down the good old memory lane. Fun, giggles, laughter and more laughter; truly a happy ‘raksha bandhan’.

3.Cook together or reserve a table just for the brother-sister team

You could cook your favorite mac and cheese together and no limit on cheese today. Perhaps you could reserve a table in a fancy place and truly celebrate the finer things about your relationship. Whatever you do, don’t let it be ordinary.

You know the customs involved in this festival are enough to remind you of the good times. Remember having fun together is the key to any relationship, especially the one between siblings. So don’t restrict the day to just the traditions and customs, go out and make a day out of it.
