Roshni Chopra is back on television. She is excited to host a special series called, The Drama Company Super Nights for the festive season. Hosting is not new for the actor, who has anchored many comedy shows in the past including Comedy Circus.
Talking about the project, she says, “I have not been working for the last few years. My second child is a year old now and as was with my first kid during his first year, I wanted to be there for my second child during his first year too. I believe that time is very precious in childhood. I shot a couple of episodes for Kapil’s comedy show in between. This hosting gig can be called a comeback, it’s a fun zone to be in and to come back to.”
Roshni gained popularity with her TV show, Kasamh Se as the role of Pia catapulted her to fame. “It’s amazing how that show has remained popular over the years. Recently, I was in Egypt and I met so many people who had just about started watching the show as it was being aired there. They are enjoying the dubbed version of the show and were very excited to meet me. It felt like deja vu to me. Kasamh Se was a life-changing show for me.”
With her comeback, Roshni is now looking at acting assignments as well. She says she has been offered TV shows and finds the digital medium boom quite “exciting”. “There are a number of programmes available online, not just the saas-bahu dramas but realistic shows as well, which offer cool roles for actors. I am in talks for a film and a TV show, but nothing has been finalised yet. The fashion label that I launched two-and-a-half-years ago too is doing well. I have got my hands full and I am enjoying every moment of it. Whenever I am out and meet people who follow my work, I am always asked “when are you returning to TV?” It feels good. That makes me think I should begin work on TV soon. And as much as I would like to work, I also need to have the right role when I do fiction again.”
