Dhanush’s first Hollywood film, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’s poster was released on November 1. The Ken Scott directorial, based on a Romain Puertolas novel by the same name, is an adventure comedy and also stars Berenice Bejo in a pivotal role. The poster features Dhanush, Berenice, Barkhad Abdi, Erin Moriarty and Abel Jafri sitting on a travel trunk-turned-hot balloon. Another poster of the IKEA wardrobe was also released.

The film follows the life of Ajatashatru (Dhanush), who decides to go on a journey to find his father after losing his mother. This quest takes him to Mumbai, Brussels, Paris and Rome. The team has concluded shooting and the film is currently on post-production. According to a report in Variety, the film will be distributed by Sony Pictures in key areas like France and UK. The film is expected to release in summer of 2018.

A few stills from the film were also released featuring Dhanush and Berenice. In a statement released earlier, producer Luc Bossi had said, “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir is also an out of the ordinary production adventure, creating through its producers, locations, and talent, a unique bridge between India, Europe and Hollywood. Its cast reunites actors from more than 15 countries and an international Indo-French-Belgian-Italian crew with a common passion and goal: Tell a universal story full of laughs and emotions.”

In the meanwhile, Dhanush is busy shooting for a gangster drama, Vada Chennai. This Tamil movie will be directed by Vetrimaaran and released in three parts. He will also be seen in the sequel of Maari 2, to be directed by Balaji Mohan.
