All works on Al Rayyan Road set to be completed soon

The entire Al Rayyan Road Development Project will be completed soon, according to official sources.

The sources said the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will soon hold a ceremony to announce the completion of Al Rayyan Road (Phase I and Phase II).

The Al Rayyan Express Road extends from the west of Sports Intersection to Bani Hajar Roundabout in the east, in addition to the Rayyan Dukhan axis, which is 45 kilometers long.

The work is under way to make sure that all necessary infrastructure in terms of lighting, electricity, irrigation and signal systems are put in place.

In March 2017, Ashghal had announced the completion of the first phase of the Al Rayyan Road Development Project (about 1.8 km west of Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Roundabout to the east of Bani Hajar Roundabout).

It also included the construction of four routes in each direction and side roads with a total length of 2 km, and service roads with a length of about 5.8 km. The first phase also included the establishment of three intersections.

During the second phase of the road, the capacity has been increased from 5,700 vehicles to 7,600 vehicles per hour, thus reducing the congestion in the area. It also allowed the use of the tunnel on Jassim Bin Hamad Street and entering Al Rayyan Road from the Sports intersection in just 8 minutes. The journey time was reduced by 60 percent compared to the use of internal roads.

The second phase includes the construction and modernisation of infrastructure of the area within the scope of the project, which envisages installation of 31 km of treated sewage lines for irrigating green areas, 40 km of rainwater drainage lines, 32 km of drinking water lines and a 15-km long drainage.
