Expat falls prey to scam, looses KD 2,000

An Egyptian lost about 2,000 dinars from his bank account after he fell victim to a fake operation, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the daily the victim told the Ahmadi police that he received a call from an unidentified bank informing him he had won 20,000 dinars prize money.

He added that the alleged bank employee asked him for the account number and the secret code for the card to transfer the prize in his balance and he obliged without hesitation.

He said after a few moments he was surprised when he received a message saying his entire balance of about 2,000 dinars had been withdrawn. A case of forgery has been filed against the unidentified suspect. The case has been handed over to the ecrimes department of the Ministry of Interior.
