Dubai Civil Defence offers condolences to firefighter’s family
No civilians were injured in the fire that broke out on Saturday.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, on Sunday offered condolences after a Dubai Civil Defence officer passed away during a firefighting operation in Business Bay.
"The sacrifices of the men of the Dubai Civil Defense will be always remembered by the nation, and the martyr Tariq will remain a symbol of self-sacrifice for the safety of the citizens and the country," Sheikh Hamdan tweeted in Arabic.
Corporal Tariq Abdullah Ali Al Hawai officer passed away while trying to control a fire that broke out in a building in the Business Bay area on Saturday.
"Corporal Tariq Abdullah Ali Al Hawai from Etihad (Union) Firefighting Centre has died while trying to control the fire that broke out... at an under-construction building located on Al Abraj street," the civil defence said in a tweet.
No civilians were injured in the fire that broke out in the parking floor of the building at 10.40am on Saturday.
