Israel and Lebanon Agree to Implement Ceasefire

Lebanon and Israel agreed to implement a conditional ceasefire today. Officials finalized the diplomatic arrangement following extensive talks in Washington. The agreement requires a complete cessation of hostilities by Hezbollah.

Continuing Southern Operations

The Israeli defense minister hailed the new ceasefire deal. However, he warned that military operations in southern Lebanon will continue. He stated the military retains the freedom to strike Beirut.

Israel will attack the capital if Hezbollah threatens Israeli communities. Meanwhile, Israeli strikes killed at least eight people in southern Lebanon.

Tragic Peacekeeper Death

The United Nations Interim Force reported a tragic loss today. Mortar shells struck a southern base and killed one peacekeeper. The dangerous attack also wounded two other UN personnel.

The peacekeeping force launched a full investigation into the shelling.
