Man dies in horrific car accident in UAE

His wife and children suffered serious injuries.

Driving without a seatbelt and distraction cost a 49-year-old Egyptian motorist his life while leaving his 35-year-old wife and two children, aged 3 and 4 years, with serious injuries.

The horrific accident happened on Al Ittihad Road in Al Zora area of Ajman when the car in which the family was travelling flipped over several times after the man lost control over the steering and his car veered off the road, crashing into road barriers.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Lt Col Saif Al Falasi, director of Ajman traffic and patrol, said that the accident took place due to inattentive driving. "The driver died on the spot as he didn't buckle up," he added.

Police received the call about the accident at the operations room, which dispatched patrols, traffic experts and civil defence team to the spot. The team found that the driver had already died and they rushed the injured family members to Khalifa hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Al Falasi urged motorists to avoid any type of distraction while driving to ensure their safety as well as that of others. Talking over the mobile phone while driving has become a major cause of accident that could lead to fatalities, he said. "The drivers must fasten seat belts and abide by traffic safety rules."
