New Transport Plan Eases Dubai to Ajman Commutes

The UAE Infrastructure and Housing Council recently held its first 2026 meeting. Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei chaired the session. Officials reviewed major plans to link Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman.

High-Speed Bus Networks

The council proposed a massive new public transport network. This exciting plan features 10 key routes supporting Bus Rapid Transit systems.

Dedicated lanes will connect commuters directly to metro stations and major city centers. These high-capacity buses operate on exclusive lanes for faster journeys.

Authorities want to reduce daily reliance on private vehicles. They plan to improve commute times across densely populated urban areas.

The Fourth Federal Corridor

Leaders also reviewed progress on the massive Fourth Federal Corridor. This flagship road project costs roughly Dh6 billion.

The highway spans 68 kilometers and features up to eight lanes. Engineers included 10 major intersections and four massive flyovers.

This new route joins the existing E11, E311, and E611 highways. The massive project will improve traffic flow and ease daily congestion.

Managing Vehicle Growth

Dubai currently experiences an eight percent growth in vehicle numbers. This rate significantly exceeds the two percent global average.

Al Mazrouei previously suggested proposing stricter car ownership rules. Officials urgently need updated policies to ease inter-emirate traffic. They plan to develop new roadways and integrate mass transit systems better.

Weather Disruptions and Future Mobility

The council also reviewed valuable lessons from recent severe weather disruptions. Leaders highlighted the critical need for improved road safety preparedness.

Emergency teams must maintain smooth traffic movement during heavy storms. Al Mazrouei stated that expanding public transport lowers dangerous carbon emissions. These modern mobility solutions will ultimately enhance your overall quality of life.
