Praise for expats, but concerns on demographics

MP Adnan Abdulsamad has stressed the importance of addressing the lopsided demographic structure issue and prioritizing citizens in health, education and other services without offending the expatriates.

He asserted it is imprudent to offend expatriates and blame them for problems that the country is facing as their presence here was made possible only through legal channels. He wondered why some voiced objection to the existence of expatriates in the country and insulted their dignity.

He said expatriates have significantly contributed to the development of the country, wondering what would happen to the country if cleaners demonstrated for one week. He asked: “Since the country is planning to establish new residential areas, who will build them, the Kuwaitis?”
