Pregnant expat women come to Kuwait on visit visa just to deliver babies for KD 3/- fees

MP Safaa Al-Hashim continued her attacks on expatriates at Wednesday’s parliamentary session. She made remarks on women expats on visit visa using services of Kuwait maternity hospital while responding to Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah on overcrowding at maternity hospitals in Kuwait.

She stated that large number of expat women come on visit visa to Kuwait especially to deliver babies for just KD 3 fees. Hence due to this there has been overcrowding at maternity hospital and cause of long lines. She called on to send them to Farwaniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, which are Kuwait’s poorest neighborhoods.

 

She commented ” Expatriates women comes with 10 meters belly just ahead of 10 days before birth”

Responding to her remarks Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah said he is considering to raise maternity fees and birth charges at public hospitals.

MP Safa Al Hashem further stated that public hospitals in Kuwait due to expats are in deterioration state and called to send all pregnant women expats patients to Farawniya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, where as Amiri, Sabah and Jaber hospitals should be kept only for Kuwaitis.
