Qatar Charity (QC) has announced a financial assistance of QR5 million to support the families of the victims of the Christchurch mosques massacre, in coordination with the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand.
QC’s financial support will be used to help the affected families, including orphans and widows, as well as those injured in the attack. The aid will also be used for the psychological rehabilitation of the affected people and their families, the provision of legal assistance to them, and the renovation of both the affected mosques.
Faisal Rashid al Fehaida, assistant to CEO in the Operations and International Cooperation Sector at QC, said, “As a recognition of the importance of supporting the vulnerable in moments of disaster and crisis, Qatar Charity moved swiftly to provide assistance to the victims of the Christchurch mosque killings, and stand by their families in order to reduce the magnitude of the trauma they suffer.”
It should be noted that Qatar has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on worshipers at two mosques of Christchurch -- which left dozens dead and injured -- offering its condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of New Zealand. Qatar has also expressed its solidarity with New Zealand and its full readiness to assist the country in its actions against extremism.
“Christchurch mosque killings are one of the most heinous crimes of intolerance, extremism and hatred that are contrary to divine laws and human values, which never allow hurting innocent persons. This affirms the need to expand international cooperation and consolidate the efforts of the international community to fight terrorism in order to protect humanity,” QC said in a press statement.
