A recent convert to Islam was also among the participants.

An inmate in one of UAE's jails has won a Quran competition, while one of the participants is a recent convert to Islam.

Abu Dhabi Police posted a picture - on Sunday - of an inmate who won the Ras Al Khaimah Quran competition, organized by the Penal and Correctional Institutions directorate at Abu Dhabi Police.

The state-level competition was the 19th session of its kind. The winners received cash prizes along with certificates of appreciation.

The post caption also added that one of the winners had recently converted to Islam, and had come eighth in the contest.
