'Wanted' expat arrested at airport for past crime

He was flying for a wedding.

An Asian man was arrested at an airport in UAE, while waiting in transit for his connecting flight.

The wanted transit passenger was traveling from Europe to an Asian country - unaware of the fact that he could get arrested at an airport in UAE.

According to Al Bayan, the man was flying for a wedding to an Asian country, and since a trip via Abu Dhabi offered a suitable price, he had to make a stopover at Abu Dhabi airport.

While waiting at the airport to board his connecting flight, the man was asked by an officer to follow him to the security office.

The officer informed the man that his name was on a wanted list, as he was sentenced in absentia by a court in the UAE.

The man not only confessed to his crime, but also reported two other persons wanted in the same case.

According to the report, the Asian man and two others had harassed an Asian woman while she was exercising on the road.

The woman had identified and reported the three to the police.

Exact details of the case have not been reported.
