QPO Presents Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony Live at Katara Opera House

You might consider classical concerts to be slow, predictable, and puritanical, but this event will make you change your mind. The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) has been performing a heavyweight programme that shifts between the elegant sophistication and the musical mayhem. The legendary opera house at Katara Cultural Village hosts one of the most revolutionary symphonies of all time on 07 February 2026 at 7:30 PM, featuring Beethoven's Eroica.

Maestro Pablo Mielgo, who directs this performance, does not serve up ambient music; it is a serious artistic experience meant not only to challenge, but also to inspire and overwhelm in the best possible way.

Concert Programme Highlights

Brahms – Variations on a Theme by Haydn

Did you know Brahms could sound elegant? On top form and full of confidence, the curtain rises with colour, shape and contrast woven through a series of variations that build subtly — with smarts, not decibels. Discipline and detail abound.

Strauss – Oboe Concerto in D Major

We move next to a different mood — lyrical, more intimate and warmer. German Díaz Blanco, principal oboist of QPO, performs Strauss’ late-Romantic concerto with liquid phrasing and expressive range. This isn’t just showboating - it’s tone painting with breath and fingers.

Beethoven – Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”

After the intermission, Beethoven emerges and completely overthrows traditional symphonic structure. Audacious. Colossal. Raw with feeling. Unabashedly big. Eroica rewrote the language of music's expression of power, conflict and victory. You haven't really heard it until you've heard it live.
