1,200 specialist nurses needed in Saudi Arabia —POEA

More than 1,200 specialist nurses and 100 respiratory therapists are needed in Saudi Arabia, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration said on Monday.

According to a JP Soriano's report on Balitanghali, Filipinos interested in getting jobs in Saudi Arabia should register with the POEA, adding that the applicants did not need to pay any placement fee.

"Kapag government to government, ito 'yung mga walang placement fee. Ang kailangan lang dito, ang gagastusin nila 'yung documentation fee," said Jocelyn Sanchez, deputy administrator of POEA.

"Ang maganda pa kasi dito, at least high school graduates lang ang tinatanggap nila," Sanchez added.

The report said the salary for specialist nurses can start at P56,000 per month while for respiratory therapists, it can reach as high as P109,000 a month.

Meanwhile, in Taiwan, 200 factory workers for food processing, food analysis inspectors and bakers are also needed. The salary for these positions could reach P35,000 per month.

The POEA also warned Filipino applicants of illegal recruiters who could post false information on social media.

Applicants can look for job listings on POEA's website and can check the legitimacy of job orders or accreditation of recruitment agencies on the same site.
