GAFT Hosts Workshop on International Trade Systems

The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) hosted a two-day workshop in Riyadh this week. More than 40 representatives attended the event at the GAFT headquarters.

Participants came from 15 different government entities and the GCC General Secretariat. This initiative helps raise awareness about important international trade systems.

Training the Saudi Technical Team

The workshop introduced the International Harmonized System (HS) for classifying goods. Experts use this specific system to code global products efficiently.

The event specifically trained members of the Saudi technical negotiating team. These specialists handle complex rules of origin and trade processing systems. The training enhances their knowledge for future international trade negotiations.

Understanding Global Classification Rules

Attendees studied the structure and numbering of the Harmonized System. They also reviewed general interpretive rules for classifying various products.

The GAFT continues to lead efforts in educating local officials about global standards. These workshops ensure that Saudi teams remain competitive in the global market.
