Saudi Arabia Backs Palestinian State at Brussels Meeting

Saudi Arabia participated in a major committee meeting regarding Palestine today. Officials held this important diplomatic gathering in Brussels. Dr. Manal Radwan represented Saudi Arabia at the ministerial meeting. She serves as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Pushing for Lasting Peace

She thanked Norway and the European Union for organizing the event. She also praised the United States for co-chairing the committee tirelessly. Radwan praised the vital roles of the United Nations and the World Bank. She emphasized the high value of their continued leadership.

Dr. Radwan urged leaders to fix the Oslo Accords using past experiences. She wants to establish a credible path toward lasting peace. She stressed moving away from simply managing recurring crises.

Supporting the Peace Council

She affirmed Saudi Arabia's total support for Security Council Resolution 2803. The Kingdom fully backs the comprehensive peace plan. These frameworks offer a structured approach using lessons from Oslo.

Radwan explained that humanitarian action, security, and governance connect deeply. Leaders cannot address these elements separately. She stressed the pivotal role of the Peace Council. The Kingdom supports this council as the primary platform for aligning recovery tracks. This single framework unites political, security, and humanitarian efforts.

Demanding Financial and Political Rights

The Kingdom promised to continue its financial and political support for Palestinians. Radwan demanded the immediate release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues. Israel must release these funds unconditionally.

Dr. Radwan praised Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa. She commended his leadership in advancing a realistic reform agenda during difficult times.

Calling for Sovereignty and Unity

She stressed that Palestinian governance must return to Gaza. This return requires genuine Palestinian unity. Leaders must keep Gaza and the West Bank inseparable. Palestinians must lead this entire process with full respect for their sovereignty. International mechanisms should support them without replacing local leadership.

Radwan called the West Bank situation extremely urgent. Escalating violence and settlement expansion undermine the two-state solution rapidly. Unilateral measures destroy crucial political foundations. She emphasized the absolute importance of protecting Palestinian civilians. This protection forms a fundamental element of any credible stability strategy.

Radwan demanded a credible political horizon for an independent Palestinian state. This state must exist within the 1967 borders. East Jerusalem must serve as its capital. She called this a fundamental prerequisite for lasting peace.
