Novak Djokovic Suffers Shocking Early Exit From The US Open

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic just suffered his earliest Grand Slam exit in decades. The superstar fell in five brutal sets to opponent Mariano Navone. This shocking first-round loss stunned the entire crowd at the US Open. The defeat shattered Djokovic's dream of securing a record twenty-fifth Grand Slam title. He looked physically unwell during the grueling four-hour and thirty-six-minute match.

An Historic Winning Streak Finally Ends

This massive loss ended an unbelievable seventy-eight match first-round winning streak. Djokovic had not lost a Grand Slam opener since the 2006 Australian Open. The forty-eighth-ranked Argentine player played the absolute match of his life. Navone fought brilliantly to secure the victory just before midnight in New York. The young player called beating his longtime idol a literal dream come true.

Djokovic struggled severely with painful late-match cramps and severe physical exhaustion. He even vomited on the court during the incredibly tense fourth set. The Serbian star took a desperate medical timeout before the final set began. Trainers massaged his spine and delivered emergency medication to keep him playing. Despite the medical help, he moved sluggishly across the baseline.

Navone Dominates The Decisive Final Set

Navone sensed his opponent's weakness and aggressively pushed the pace. He quickly jumped to an unstoppable 3-0 lead in the decisive fifth set. Djokovic could not find the energy to mount a magical comeback. He barely won a single point on his own serve during the finale. Defeated, Djokovic embraced Navone at the net and blew sad kisses to the crowd.
