iOS 11.1.2 out now, fixes iPhone X screen issues in cold weather

The barrage of iOS 11 updates continue. Apple has just issued an extremely incremental update to their latest mobile operating system mainly intended at fixing iPhone X screen unresponsiveness issues in cold weather. As expected of a minor point release, there are no new features to speak of. However, the iOS 11.1.2 update brings with it quite a few bug fixes.

iOS 11.1.2 fixes the 'Coldgate' issue plaguing the iPhone X. Many users in cold climates have been complaining of their iPhone X's screen becoming unresponsive to touch after a rapid temperature drop - such as stepping out from a heated house to the cold outside.

The update also fixes an issue that could cause distortions in Live Photos and videos shot via the iPhone X. The iOS 11.1.2 update is the sixth update Apple has issued to iOS 11 since the operating system was launched along with iPhone X back in September. Just last week, Apple addressed the bizarre "i" autocorrect bug and an issue with "Hey Siri" in iOS 11.1.1.

While iOS 11 brings with it the biggest makeover to Apple's mobile OS since iOS 7 and host of new features such as a new customisable control centre, a file manager simply called 'Files', a new lockscreen and notification centre and powerful multitasking tools for the iPad, many users have been facing a host of bugs and battery drain issues.

These bugs are set to be squashed in iOS 11.2 - which is going to be a much more comprehensive update. iOS 11.2 is also set to bring new features such as 7.5W fast wireless charging on the iPhone 8 and X and Apple Pay Cash.

iOS 11.1.2 can be downloaded on your iPhone and iPad by heading over to Settings > General > Software update. On our iPhone 7, the update is 45.1 MB is size, though your mileage may vary depending on your iPhone model.
