Botswana Establishes Direct Trading Corridor to Route Diamonds and Minerals to Dubai

The global commodities market is witnessing a highly strategic and exciting new partnership. Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) and the Botswana Stock Exchange Group have signed a landmark agreement to establish Africa’s first multi-commodity sister-hub corridor. This initiative perfectly links Botswana’s rich resources directly with Dubai’s massive trade and financial networks.

The comprehensive partnership covers a wide array of valuable exports, including natural diamonds, copper, critical minerals, and agricultural products. Importantly, the agreement will also create a dedicated trade presence for Botswana within the DMCC ecosystem, seamlessly connecting African producers with eager international buyers.

Streamlining the Global Diamond Trade

One of the most anticipated commercial initiatives will involve coordinated diamond tenders between the Okavango Diamond Company and the Dubai Diamond Exchange. Slated to begin in late 2026, these tenders will forge a highly efficient, direct route for Botswana’s legendary diamond production.

The two organizations also plan to explore innovative financial tools, including Shariah-compliant instruments and the digital tokenization of physical commodities. This forward-thinking partnership promises to extract greater value for Botswana's resources while cementing Dubai's status as a premier global trading hub.
