Dubai Municipality Warns Residents of Hefty Fines for Abandoned Vehicles During Summer

As the summer holiday season approaches, Dubai Municipality has issued a helpful reminder to residents traveling abroad regarding vehicle parking. Authorities are urging motorists not to leave their cars unattended in public spaces, sandy areas, or unpaved lots for extended periods of time.

Vehicles that accumulate thick dust and appear abandoned negatively impact the beautiful, pristine urban aesthetic that Dubai strives to maintain. To encourage compliance, the municipality has warned that neglected cars will be subject to a Dh500 fine, along with additional towing and impound yard charges.

Keeping the City Beautiful

Inspection teams from the municipality operate diligently throughout the year to identify unattended vehicles. Owners are typically issued a warning notice allowing them three to fifteen days to clean or move their car before the authorities coordinate with Emirates Parking for its official removal.

To avoid these penalties, officials recommend parking in designated, secure locations while traveling. Using a high-quality protective cover or arranging for a friend to periodically clean the vehicle can also help residents protect their property while keeping the city's streets looking their best.
