Dubai Summit Offers $1 Million Prize For Innovative AI Filmmakers

Submissions Open For The AI Film Award

The 1 Billion Followers Summit opened submissions for the second edition of its AI Film Award. They offer a massive $1 million grand prize to creative visual storytellers. The competition rewards creators using artificial intelligence to tell highly meaningful stories. The competition is open to filmmakers and content creators worldwide. Entries should explore issues affecting people, communities, technology, nature, and human relationships. BytePlus, the enterprise technology services arm of ByteDance, partnered to organize the event. TikTok supports the award this year to reach much wider audiences around the world. The finalist films will be screened in Dubai from January 8 to 10.

Strict Entry Requirements

Submissions close officially on November 20. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to enter. They must submit an original film created specifically for this prestigious competition. Each entry must run for five to seven minutes in a horizontal 16:9 format. Films may be produced in any language, provided they include English subtitles. At least 70 percent of each completed film must utilize Dreamina Seedance. This is ByteDance’s powerful new AI video-generation model. Creators may use other AI applications and traditional editing tools for supporting elements. Creators retain full ownership and copyright of their submitted films.

Five Themes For AI Storytelling

The award covers five themes, encouraging filmmakers to explore issues with global relevance. Themes include humanitarian issues, fake news, human relationships, and the changing planet. Judges will assess entries on AI integration, storytelling, creativity, aesthetics, and technical execution. The aim is to encourage films that combine visual capabilities with compelling narratives. Alia Al Hammadi serves as Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office. She noted this supports the UAE’s vision as a global hub for innovation. It proves AI can enhance human imagination rather than replacing it entirely. Stay ahead of the curve with the newest digital content trends.
