Dubai visitor deported for carrying 1,887 drug pills at airport

A man, who was caught at the airport with 1,887 tramadol pills, has been sentenced to be deported after paying a Dh10,000 fine.
 
The Court of First Instance found the 26-year-old Cameroon national guilty of importing and possessing of narcotics.

 

According to public prosecution records, he arrived at the Dubai International Airport on June 12 on a visit visa. The accused was arrested by the customs and the anti-narcotics police officers. The police crime lab report said that the quantity seized from the visitor was 1,887 pills of tramadol.

The crime lab results report also showed the defendant's urine sample tested positive for hashish and tramadol.

The court ordered confiscation of the seized drugs.
