Dubai and Abu Dhabi residents woke up to hazy, dust-filled skies this morning. The National Center of Meteorology attributed these harsh conditions to a low-pressure system. Winds are currently blowing from the southeast to the northeast across the country. These winds travel at speeds ranging between 10 and 25 kilometers per hour. They occasionally reach up to 35 kilometers per hour in open areas. These strong gusts serve as the main driver behind the heavily reduced visibility today. Coastal, internal, and mountain areas all report significant dust in the atmosphere.

Managing The Summer Heat Safely

At sea, maritime conditions remain much calmer for boats and commercial shipping. Forecasters expect only slight wave activity in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman. The weather will remain fair to partly cloudy throughout the rest of the day. Coastal areas, including Dubai, will see high temperatures between 39°C and 44°C. Overnight lows in these cities will drop slightly to between 29°C and 34°C. Internal desert areas will run much hotter, with maximum highs reaching a scorching 46°C. Mountain regions remain comparatively milder, with daytime highs peaking around 36°C.
