Holiday announced for Islamic New Year in UAE

The UAE on Monday announced that Thursday, September 13, will be observed as a holiday on account of the Islamic New Year.

 

"Thursday, September 13, will be a holiday for ministries and federal agencies in the country," a WAM announcement said.

The first day of the Islamic New Year -- Muharram 1, 1440 -- will be announced after moon sighting in the country.
