Learning The Value Of Giving Back
Ahmed Al Zarooni learned the deep importance of community very early in life. Born and raised in Sharjah, family and neighbors stood at the center of his world. Looking out for one another formed an essential part of the local community's fabric. His family taught him the vital importance of hard work and appreciating opportunities. They also emphasized treating others with genuine consideration and deep respect. “Building a better future means taking responsibility for your own progress while helping others,” Al Zarooni explained. This guiding principle stayed with him throughout his entire professional career. It influenced the unique opportunities he pursued and the positive impact he hopes to make.
A Journey Of Over 100 Events
Al Zarooni’s volunteering journey started with a strong desire to explore and discover new possibilities. He wanted to experience different working environments and understand how diverse teams operated. He wanted to try challenging roles he might not otherwise have encountered professionally. That curiosity led him to volunteer at more than 100 events and initiatives. He worked across the UAE, the wider Middle East region, and internationally. His experiences included major sports events, government summits, charitable initiatives, and world expos. Over time, volunteering gave him a profound appreciation for contributing to something bigger. He sees this spirit of generosity as closely connected to the UAE’s core national values.
Serving Vulnerable Populations Abroad
His experiences also took him to busy refugee camps in Jordan. He spent valuable time supporting vulnerable communities living in incredibly difficult circumstances. The exposure offered a completely different perspective on service and human resilience. It showed him the massive impact that small contributions can have on people's lives. His personal journey eventually led him to work at the Emirates Foundation. There, he managed Volunteers AE, the UAE’s official national volunteering platform. "That brought my journey full circle, from exploring my own future to helping others," he shared. Al Zarooni noted that his professional growth never followed a single, predictable path.
A Shared Responsibility
He gained experience in aviation, telecommunications, events, real estate, and philanthropy. He focuses on gaining diverse experience rather than chasing a specific job title. Al Zarooni believes contributing to the UAE’s future remains a shared national responsibility. Everyone who calls the UAE home possesses something valuable to contribute.
