The Manchester City Abu Dhabi Cup will host its biggest edition yet in January 2027. Organizers expect a larger tournament experience with more teams and increased female participation. The competition continues to expand its reach year after year. The eighth edition follows a record-breaking 2026 tournament. Players and coaches will enjoy improved facilities and better opportunities off the pitch. The tournament will place a greater emphasis on celebrating outstanding performances.

New Opportunities For Young Athletes

The three-day tournament runs from January 8 to January 10, 2027. Young footballers from the UAE and around the world will travel to Zayed Sports City. They will compete across eight different age-group categories. An increased number of girls’ teams will compete in the U12, U14, and U16 divisions. Boys will compete across the U8, U10, U12, U14, and U16 levels. Organizers will award individual accolades like Goal of the Tournament and Etihad Player of the Tournament. Beyond the trophies, every winning team enters a massive prize draw. The winners will receive a once-in-a-lifetime trip to a City Football Group club. This prize includes professional facility training and match tickets.

Growing Grassroots Football In The UAE

The tournament stands as Manchester City’s largest international football event globally. Visiting teams will also have time to explore landmark Abu Dhabi attractions. Players can visit Yas Waterworld, Sea World Abu Dhabi, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Experience Abu Dhabi support the football festival. Tournament Director Simon Hewitt called it the Middle East’s largest grassroots tournament. Teams must register quickly as limited places remain available.
