Soon, Hyderabad may get UAE consulate

The city may soon get a UAE consulate. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation of United Arab Emirates, will meet on Thursday at Pragati Bhavan in the city. They are expected to hold discussions on issues regarding establishing UAE consulate office in Hyderabad.

Lakhs of workers from Telangana work in the UAE and if a consulate is set up in the city, it would be beneficial for them. NRI affairs minister KT Rama Rao, during a visit to Delhi on Wednesday, met the UAE ambassador to India, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Banna. “They hailed the bilateral relations between UAE and India and vowed to work closely to improve ties further,” the UAE embassy said after the meeting.

In 2016, the UAE ambassador had also met deputy CM Mahmood Ali and expressed interest to set up the consulate and visa processing facility in Hyderabad, for which he also sought suitable land.
