When Should You Renew Your License?

Do you hold a Dubai driving license from the RTA? You can renew it easily before it expires. Drivers over 21 can renew six months before the expiry date. Drivers under 21 can renew three months in advance.

The validity of your new license depends on your status. UAE citizens get a license valid for ten years. UAE residents get a license valid for five years. Drivers under 21 receive a strict one-year license.

The electronic eye test costs between Dh140 and Dh180. The results go directly to the RTA system electronically. Finally, you must pay all outstanding traffic fines. Professional drivers must also pass a medical fitness test.

You have many easy options to renew your document. You can use the RTA website or the RTA Dubai app. You can also visit official RTA self-service machines. These helpful machines exist inside Customer Happiness Centers.

Simply log in using your Emirates ID or UAE Pass. The system will prompt you to pay your fines. The standard renewal fee is Dh300 for adults. You also pay a Dh20 Knowledge and Innovation fee.

Getting Your New License Card

You will receive a digital license instantly on the app. You can add it directly to your Apple Wallet. If you want a physical card, choose the delivery option. Standard delivery costs a simple Dh20 fee.

Do not let your license expire for too long. A late fine of Dh10 per month applies immediately. This penalty can reach a maximum of Dh500.
