Two Dubai OFWs complain against OWWA staff

Two overseas Filipino workers (OFW), who were asking for financial assistance, were allegedly humiliated by a staff of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

Dubai household service workers (HSW) Cecille Camaan Dunuan, from Baguio, and Glenda Cajudoy, from Tarlac, were both traumatized out of embarrassment after they were allegedly verbally demeaned by a staff named ‘Jun’, in OWWA office in Pasay City, reported Abante.

According to the two, they decided to seek help from OWWA after POLO-Dubai advised them to proceed to the government’s office for monetary assistance.

The two arrived at OWWA 10a.m. with six other OFWs and underwent few processes to determine if they are eligible to avail help under Balik Pinay Program.

They were instructed to proceed to a room and were directed to OWWA staff named “Jun”.

The OFWs wanted to ask for cash assistance to travel back to their respective provinces.

However, “Jun” allegedly told them: “Undocumented kayo tapos pupunta-punta kayo dito sa OWWA para hihingi lang ng pamasahe,” and then he threw the OFW’s documents in the trash bin, according to the report.

“Wala na, lagpas na isang buwan papers,” added Jun.

Dulnuan and Cajudoy arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on August 22.

OWWA has yet to release a statement regarding the incident.
