Authorities in UAE have managed to explain the reason behind the "boiling sand" at Sira area on the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan road in the emirate of Umm Al Quwain.
"The vertical surge of sand is due to an increase in the amount of air inside a network cable," said Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of traffic and patrols department at UAQ police.
The central operations room of the police were alerted of the "boiling sand" by a video that went viral on social media late on Tuesday.
Traffic patrols were immediately dispatched to the reported site.
"Specialised teams from the UAQ civil defence department, federal electricity and water authority, and Etisalat UAQ, were also available to examine the case and identify the reasons behind."
Lt Col Dr Salem Hamad bin Hamdha, director of the UAQ civil defence department, said that everything is stable and normal as it was.
"The excess air reported in the Etisalat network cable has been discharged."
