Video: First look at Dubai-Abu Dhabi hyperloop travel in 12 minutes

The first pod prototype for Dubai's proposed 700mph Hyperloop was unveiled on Saturday.

In a tweet by the Dubai Media Office, it is stated that the mode of transport could cut travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to just 12 minutes.

Normally, the trip between the two emirates takes an hour-and-a-half. The project would also save an estimated $800 million in lost working hours.

The clip shared by the Media Office also revealed several features passengers can expect from the Hyperloop. The pod, adorned by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) logo features a roomy cabin with embedded touchscreens and seats with plenty of legroom.

Earlier, a Hyperloop commuter pod was displayed to the public at Dubai's City Walk as part of the UAE Innovation Exhibit. On April, the RTA denied rumours regarding the Hyperloop's location in Dubai. It said that the proposed construction site is on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border close to the Expo 2020 site.

However, any further development of the system will be subject to careful study and extensive regulatory review and approval.
