Civil defence groups effectively controlled a fire that razed a flat in Ajman on Monday, Khaleejtimes reported.
Nine Arab nationality people sustained mild injuries from smoke inhalation.
The operations room was tipped off at 11am about a fire which flared in a washing machine at a flat in Nuaimiya area.
Ambulances, fire motors and civil defence groups were dispatched to put out the blaze beforeit could spread to different pads in the private building.
Colonel Raed Obeid Al Za'abi, deputy director of central operations, iterated the importance of following all safety regulations for households and residential units.
Al Za'abi warned "Make sure all electrical appliances and extensions are regularly maintained, and keep fire extinguishers on hand in case of emergencies."
