A wind whipped fire that has been dubbed the "Jayne Fire" has burned 2,000 acres so far in Fresno County off Highway 33 and Buttonwillow near Coalinga. Cal Fire Crews have been on scene since late this afternoon trying to get the fire under control.

40 structures are threatened, containment is now at 20%. No information has been announced on when full containment can be expected.  Officials say this fire burned about four acres when it started but 20 mile per hour winds accelerated the damage. Incident Commanders say it could potentially 5,000 acres.

Four homes nearby were threatened initially,but crews got here in time to prevent damage, fighting the flames from the air and ground. "The biggest challenge is obviously the winds out here. They can outpace our fire engines and the work that we're putting in so until the winds die down, we're starting to get into later night, the relative humidity is starting to pick back up. Fire activity is starting to slow down a little bit so we're able to get a little better grasp on it with the weather changing", said Cal Fire Captain Jeremiah Wittwer.

Crews will be working through the night to fully contain this wildfire. Officials say about 80 firefighters were on the scene today, many from neighboring departments.
